“Shareef O’Neal and Scotty Pippen Jr. both sign two-way deals with the” Lakers.
“The Los Angeles Lakers have signed both Shareef O’Neal and Scotty Pippen Jr. to two-way contracts”. Both players signed their contracts on Thursday, the day after the NBA Draft.
O’Neal, who is “22, is the oldest son of NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal”. Pippen Jr. is the son of Scottie Pippen, who won six NBA titles. Both O’Neal and Pippen Jr. posted on social media about how happy they were to have signed contracts.
O’Neal posted a video of himself from the past wearing a Lakers jersey and thanking the team. He wrote, “Thank you for this chance.” In 2013, the Lakers took his famous father’s jersey out of circulation.
Pippen Jr. wrote, “Dreams come true,” and added an emoji of praying hands. “Let’s get to work.”
O’Neal is 6-foot-10 and played college basketball for both UCLA and LSU. He said earlier this week that his dad would have liked him to stay in school and not go into the draft this year.
“He wanted me to stay in school,” he told me. “He knows that I work out with a group. I won’t lie, though; we haven’t talked about this. I’m sort of just getting by.”
Pippen Jr. played for Vanderbilt for the last three years. He scored 20.4 points per game in his final season with the college.
