Erin Moriarty’s Changing Appearance Draws Attention After ‘The Boys’ Premiere
The fifth and final season of Prime Video’s superhero series The Boys premiered earlier this month, bringing renewed online discussion about actress Erin Moriarty, particularly regarding changes in her appearance since the show first debuted in 2019.

Following the new season’s release, social media has seen a rise in commentary focused on her looks. This comes despite Moriarty previously speaking openly about her health.

In June of last year, Moriarty revealed she had been diagnosed with Graves’ disease, an autoimmune condition that affects the thyroid and can cause symptoms such as weight changes, eye-related effects, and shifts in facial appearance.

The Boys star wrote on Instagram in June 2025:
Autoimmune disease manifests differently in everybody/every body. Your experience will be different from mine. My experience will be different from yours. Perhaps greatly, perhaps minutely. One thing I can say: if I hadn’t chalked it all up to stress and fatigue, I would’ve caught this sooner. A month ago, I was diagnosed with Graves’ disease. Within 24 hours of beginning treatment, I felt the light coming back on.
In an interview with the New York Times, she also addressed the backlash:
For a few months, I thought my career was over, because there was so much attention brought to something that I was told never to address.
