Paris Jackson Reveals the Lesson Behind Neverland: “That Did Not Belong to Us”

For many people, Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch is remembered as a place filled with extravagant rides, colorful attractions and childhood wonder. But according to Paris Jackson, growing up there came with a very different understanding of what those attractions actually meant.

During an August 2026 appearance on Call Her Daddy, Paris reflected on her childhood at Neverland and explained that she and her brothers, Prince and Bigi, were taught from an early age that the ranch’s attractions were not their personal playground.

“It was made very, very clear that all of the attractions there were not for us, that did not belong to us.”

Paris said the rides and attractions were intended to bring happiness to children who otherwise might never have had the opportunity to experience something like Disneyland. In particular, Neverland welcomed underprivileged and seriously ill children.

For Michael Jackson’s children, the experience came with rules. Homework and chores came first, while weekends could become a time to enjoy the attractions—essentially creating a reward system rather than giving them unlimited access to the fantasy surrounding them.

That distinction appears to have stayed with Paris.

A Ferris wheel, amusement rides and other attractions may have looked like the ultimate childhood dream from the outside, but inside the Jackson family, they carried a different purpose. They were created to be shared with children who needed moments of joy—not simply enjoyed as private luxuries.

Paris’s recollection offers another perspective on Neverland, shifting the focus away from the spectacle of the property and toward the charitable purpose her father wanted it to represent.

For her, growing up surrounded by extraordinary things apparently also meant learning that having access to something did not necessarily mean owning it.

And perhaps that was one of the most important lessons Neverland was meant to teach: sometimes the greatest magic is the joy you give to someone else.
