Fan tells 50 cent to hop in the booth
A fan and other hip-hop figures urged 50 Cent to stop responding to recent disses with social media memes and instead “hop in the booth” to release a formal diss track. This happened during a social media beef involving Fabolous, Jim Jones, Dave East, and Maino.
The Context of the Demand
The call for 50 Cent to record a diss track stemmed from his ongoing online feud with several New York rappers. Fabolous and others released a track where they took lyrical jabs at him, arguing that he’s a “podcaster” and a social media troll who avoids actual rap battles.
Fans and some hip-hop commentators, such as Doggie Diamonds, felt that 50 Cent was trying to “meme his way out of rapping” and demanded he respond with “real bars” as he used to do in his early career.
50 Cent’s Approach
50 Cent, who is currently focused on his business empire (including TV shows like Power and BMF) and financial success, has largely ignored the request to record a formal response. He has responded to the jabs with his usual method of choice: social media trolling and memes, leading to the fan’s demand for him to get back in the recording studio.
Many of his supporters argue he has nothing left to prove and has “already won hip-hop,” so he can simply ruin his opponents financially rather than engaging in a lyrical war. The fan’s comment represents a desire among some hip-hop purists to see the legendary battle rapper return to his musical roots.
