The morning started like any other for Bethany
 quiet, routine, almost too normal.

She stood in her kitchen, scrolling through her phone absentmindedly, sipping her coffee. But then—a message notification popped up.

Dutchess.

Bethany frowned. They weren’t close. In fact, Dutchess only ever reached out when something serious was going on.

Her heart skipped as she opened the message.

“You deserve to see this.”

Below it
 three images.

At first, Bethany didn’t understand what she was looking at. A dimly lit lounge. People dressed in white. Music. Smiles.

Then her eyes locked onto the center of the photos

Larry.

And right in his arms

Sharra.

Not just standing.
Not just talking.

Dancing. Laughing. Holding each other like nothing else in the world mattered.

Bethany’s breath caught in her throat.

“No
 no, this can’t be real
” she whispered, her fingers trembling as she zoomed in.

In the second image, Sharra had her arms wrapped around Larry’s shoulders, their faces inches apart.
In the third
Larry stood behind her, smiling in a way Bethany hadn’t seen in months.

That smile.

That same smile he used to give her.

The coffee mug slipped from her hand, crashing into the sink.

Her chest tightened. Her mind raced.

“Last night
” she muttered.

Larry had told her he was “busy.” Said he needed space. Said he was going out of town for work.

Lies. All lies.

Her phone buzzed again.

Dutchess:

“I’m sorry
 but you needed to know.”

For a moment, Bethany just stood there—frozen between heartbreak and disbelief.

Then something inside her snapped.

Her expression changed.

The shock faded
replaced by something far more dangerous.

Determination.

She grabbed her keys, her phone, and her bag—moving faster than she had in weeks.

“Okay, Larry
” she said under her breath, eyes burning with emotion.
“You wanted secrets?”

She opened her messages
 scrolled
 and stopped at Larry’s name.

Her thumb hovered over the screen.

Then instead of texting him

She sent the photos back.

One by one.

No words.
No explanation.

Just proof.

Three dots appeared almost instantly.

Larry was typing.

Bethany smirked—but it wasn’t a happy smile.

It was the kind of smile that comes right before everything changes.

Her phone rang.

Larry calling.

She stared at it
 letting it ring
 letting him panic.

Once.
Twice.
Three times.

Then finally

She answered.

Silence on the other end.

Then—

“Bethany
 I can explain—”

She cut him off.

“No,” she said coldly.
“You’re going to listen.”

Her voice was calm
 too calm.

“I saw everything. And trust me
this isn’t ending the way you think it is.”

There was a pause.

Larry tried to speak again—but Bethany had already hung up.

She looked back at the photos one last time.

The laughter.
The closeness.
The betrayal.

Her grip tightened around the phone.

“Game on,” she whispered.

Because this time

Bethany wasn’t going to cry.
