Comedian Ian Edwards says he will not boycott 4th of July: ‘I will not throw away a holiday and disrespect my ancestors like that’
Comedian Ian Edwards is choosing to celebrate the Fourth of July despite calls to boycott the holiday due to the Black Lives Matter movement.
According to TMZ reports, he explained that his Black ancestors never had the chance to celebrate any holidays, so he plans to enjoy every bank holiday in their honor.
He also expressed his disapproval of white people celebrating Juneteenth as much as the Fourth of July, as he believes they would likely take the holiday from the Black community.
Ian’s plans for the holiday included attending a rooftop party in Venice. Other celebrities, such as Katy Perry and Mark Zuckerberg, also made the most of the Fourth of July by enjoying the good weather and engaging in various activities.
