Following the release of their new single, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion reunited for a debut performance of “Bongos” at the 2023 MTV VMAs on Sept. 12, and their backshots definitely sounded like bongos! The two rap stars hit the stage in matching sparkly blue and green costumes, lighting up the stage with their epic performance packed with sexy dance moves.

Despite the demanding choreography, Cardi and Megan didn’t miss a single beat as they delivered their verses throughout their moment. It’s no surprise that the consummate professionals delivered an unforgettable performance, which is why it caught some viewers off guard when Cardi’s husband, Offset — who accompanied his wife on the red carpet earlier in the night — was caught on camera fanboying in the audience (like the supportive spouse he is)!

“Bongos” marks Cardi and Megan’s second collaboration after their record-breaking 2020 hit “WAP.” The song not only debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, but it also made history as the first women rap collaboration in history to do so. “WAP” netted five nominations at the 2021 MTV VMAs, including song of the summer, video of the year, song of the year, best collaboration, and best hip-hop.
