Oh, Baby! Wayne Brady Welcomes Baby Boy with His Ex-Girlfriend

*Six months ago, Wayne Brady and his ex-girlfriend welcomed a baby boy.

The TV host revealed the news on the premiere of his Freeform reality show, “Wayne Brady: The Family Remix,” announcing the birth of his son, Val Henry. The baby announcement comes a year after the actor’s coming out as pansexual.

“Coming out was for me, so I didn’t expect any grand… It wasn’t a transformation, it isn’t like the end of… No, thank you,” he told People on Monday, July 22. “It’s not like Beauty and the Beast where all of a sudden you’re whipped and changed. The change is internal and it’s a great change to feel.”

As we reported earlier, “Wayne Brady: The Family Remix” features Brady’s daughter Maile, his ex-wife and business partner Mandie Taketa, and Taketa’s life partner Jason Michael Fordham.

As someone who gets to bring joy to others daily on tv, it’s been ironic that I don’t experience it as much as I’d like. I advocate mental health for all and a part of that is self transparency. In doing my work, I’ve come to see a few truths, one of them being that I want to be free to love whomever I want. This truth makes me Pan and part of the lgbtq+ family. It’s scary as hell to say out loud but here it is. The people I admire the most are the ones brave enough to be themselves unapologetically. This shouldn’t shake anyone’s world, but if it bothers you at all, that’s your business:) I was so afraid of having my manhood questioned, but screw that. A “real man” in my eyes, isn’t afraid to be honest and happy. From now on, I’ll be over here living my best life!

During Disney’s Television Critics Association event in Pasadena, Calif., on July 10, the “Let’s Make a Deal” host said viewers will see a different side of him as he was in the “throes of depression” during filming.

“I’m glad that we also caught that on tape,” Brady said, PEOPLE reports. “And I was so in the throes of this, oh, this darkness, this whole thing, that the only way that I felt that I could show up was I needed to be needed. I’ve got to work.”

He added, “I can walk on stage and be charming and affable and make you laugh and look in the camera and do my thing,” Brady explained. “But the fact that that guy, and I even say it in the show, ‘I could make millions of people happy, but I would go home, and I feel like a piece of s—, and I couldn’t do that anymore.’ “

The series is set to explore the performer’s pansexuality, a revelation Brady made last August on TikTok.

“It’s not the biggest thing that’s happened in my life. It’s one of the sweetest things that’s happened in my life, and that’s why I think it’s good,” Brady told PEOPLE. “I don’t walk around every day going, ‘Look at this difference, look at this change.’”

New episodes of “Wayne Brady: The Family Remix” air Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on Freeform and will have next-day streaming on Hulu.
