Bishop T.D. Jakes Reveals He Suffered A Massive Heart Attack During Live Sermon

😳 Bishop T.D. Jakes’ Health Scare Shocks the Church and Beyond

Beloved pastor and spiritual leader Bishop T.D. Jakes is opening up for the first time about the terrifying moment he suffered a massive heart attack in the middle of a sermon.

It happened on November 24, 2024, while Jakes, 67, was preaching at The Potter’s House of Dallas.

“I didn’t really realize what was happening to me onstage until I got to the hospital in an ambulance,” Jakes said during an emotional interview on the Today show.

“The doctor leaned over and said, ‘You’ve had a massive heart attack.’”

😔 No Classic Signs—Just a Sudden Shift

What’s especially shocking is that Bishop Jakes didn’t have the typical heart attack symptoms.

No chest pain. No shortness of breath. Just a moment of peace that could’ve been his last.

“I just kind of drifted off to sleep,” he shared. “Five minutes later, I’d have been dead on arrival.”

The right side of his heart had completely stopped pumping blood. As long as he was up preaching, he felt fine.

But when he sat down, the adrenaline wore off and the clot was exposed.

đŸ„ Emergency Surgery—While Awake

Jakes underwent emergency surgery to remove the clot—and remained fully awake the entire time.

“The surgeons were operating while I was awake. They never put me to sleep,” he recalled. “Technology, it’s amazing.”

He says watching footage of the incident is tough.

“They had to claw the microphone out of my hand,” he said.

“But in my mind, I was in a white, cloud-enveloped space. I was on my way out.”

đŸ™ŒđŸŸ A Miracle in Motion

Bishop T.D. Jakes is calling his recovery a spiritual experience—and a miracle.

“I had my whole church—global church—praying for me,” he said.

Now fully recovered, he’s back in the pulpit and more grateful than ever.

“Sometimes things happen beyond our control,” he previously shared.

“But greater is He that is in us.”
